DECA
All six career clusters, and a full breakdown of every event inside them.
What it is
DECA is the broadest competition MCBA prepares for, and the one where generic business studying helps least. What a judge scores is a specific list of performance indicators for a specific event, and the events differ enormously across the six clusters.
So the DECA area is built event by event rather than cluster by cluster. Open any event and you get its official abbreviation and full name, its format, whether it is individual or a team, its difficulty, a description of what actually happens in the room, the performance indicators commonly tested, the MCBA study topics that cover them, and a recommended practice strategy.
Around that sit the cluster-level tools: a flashcard deck per cluster covering definitions, applications, scenarios, comparisons, and calculations, and a full set of practice exams per cluster with every question explained. Progress is tracked per cluster, so you can see which clusters you are genuinely ready in.
What is inside
Six career clusters
Marketing, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism, Business Management and Administration, Entrepreneurship, and Personal Financial Literacy, each with its own overview and event list.
Every event, individually broken down
Format, participants, difficulty, what happens in the room, the performance indicators judges score, the topics to study, and a practice strategy. Per event, not per cluster.
A flashcard deck per cluster
Definitions, applications, scenarios, comparisons, and calculations, written against the cluster's own vocabulary rather than a general business glossary.
Practice exams with explanations
Multiple exams per cluster, every question explained, so a cluster exam becomes a study session rather than a score.
AI Presentation Grader
Do a DECA role-play or presentation out loud and have it scored line by line against DECA's published 2026 evaluation form, with the evidence and what would move each score up. Pick one of MCBA's role-plays for your event, prepare on the event's clock, and present live or on video. Included with Max and Chapter membership, with a weekly allowance of graded runs.
How to use it
The order that gets the most out of this area.
Choose your event before you study
DECA rewards depth in one event far more than breadth across ten. Read the breakdowns, pick the event, then study for that event.
Learn the indicators out loud
Role-play judges score whether you hit the indicators, so practice saying them in a natural sentence rather than recognizing them on a page.
Drill the cluster deck
The written exam and the role-play draw on the same vocabulary. The deck is the cheapest way to hold it.
Rehearse with a real clock
Prepare, then present, in the time the event actually gives you, then read the evaluation form line by line. The first time you build an answer under that pressure should not be at districts.
